The baptism of a young Dwarf...

The sun shone down upon the fields outside of Mordahim as a young girl strolled through the countryside. The dim, dark future of the mines seemed like an eternal prison to her... but the feeling of the warm grass underneath her stout feet brought to her happiness and promise. She was shunned from her friends and family for her unusual behavior (and hefty appetite for ale). Tired of the boredom of her lands, she hopped along a gypsy caravan in search of cooler mists and warmer breezes.

It wasn't long before she found herself far away from home. Before she knew exactly how far she had gone, she woke up one morning to the vast desert of the south. All that was once green and cool washed away into a sea of bleakness. The gritty sand blew over her golden hair and a feeling of despair came over her. West they traveled over the sands... as she wallowed in self-pity and elven wine, numbed by the nothingness around her. She still had not come to be very welcome with the gypsies and received no friendly words.

They traveled by night as the days passed on. Krystallyne sat on top of a crate, barely upright from the potent wine... staring off into the desert that the caravan left behind. As she sucked the last few drops from her bottle, she was abruptly unseated as a tree limb smacked her square in the head. She landed onto the wagon and briefly stared up at the sight of.... "trees!"

 ... then she blacked out.

Loud singing and shouting flowed out of the surrounding forest as Krystallyne, grabbing her head, sat up from the wagon. Around her was a setting unlike anything she had ever seen, lush with bushes, wildlife and unusual trees. "Am I hallucinating?" she thought to herself as she watched small figures dancing through the trees. Getting on her feet she stumbled to the treeline, rubbing her eyes.

"Aye Lassie!" exclaimed a rather drunken dwarf as he popped up from the bush alongside Krystallyne. "Welcome to the Pyramids!"

Startled, she fell back on the ground. Three more dwarves appeared from the trees and began to dance around her, spilling their ale and singing loudly... that is until two of them stumbled over each other and came crashing down on top of her.

"Aaaaaaaaaaa! Get off ya bloated sacks!" yelled Krystallyne. No response. They had blacked out on top of her. Using what diminished strength she had left, she flung them off of her and stood up uneasily. "You oafs!" she exclaimed, drenched in luke warm ale.

"Is there a problem Mistress?" came a small voice from behind. She reeled around, expecting another beer shower, but this time saw a pointy hatted gnome. In one hand he held a moss-covered book and in the other a small green bottle.

"You look a little young to be around these parts! My name is Professor Kaboom, allow me to show you to safe haven." Krystallyne had not seen a friendly face nor heard comforting words in what seemed ages. "Aye! Thank you kind one." she responded as she staggered towards him. "Here, drink these" said the gnome as he pulled out several small bottles from his knapsack. "They will make you feel much less ill". She uncorked the bottles and trustingly gulped them down, dehydrated from the drunken mess she had been in. Within moments she felt the strength coming back to her weary bones... and the sun once again felt warm and soothing.

"Come my friend" said the Prof. "Let us go fishing this beautiful day and have a wonderful lunch!" These words reached right down into Krystallyne's heart and belly. "Aye!" she smiled, "let's do that."

They sat along the lake, fishing away under the shade of a large pine... and the bounty was plentiful. The Prof shared stories of his travels to the ever-curious Krystallyne, inspiring her with stories of slain goblins and other evils of the country. These images rolled through violently through her head. It was saddening that there was so much evil and strife destroying the very things that she loved so much... things that the cruel days in the desert made her appreciate even more.

There, along the shores of Lake Rathe... in Krystallyne's heart a Paladin was born.

Welcome Krystallyne!

Good to see another dwarf among us! And good to see another stout hearted person to stand in front and take the attacks of the evil ones.

You will have plenty of help in your adventures and quests, don't worry.

Greeting and Welcome to Krystallyne.

Hopefully your 'Path of Light' will not sway you from joining a little necro in some fun and adventure... I am not 'really' evil, I just like to play with dead things emoticon

/me reminds himself to not continually be impressed with the stories coming out of the VC.

You know, it's becoming quite commonplace now. You'll have to write more next time to impress me! lol emoticon

Great story about the 'birth' of a new VC!

Here, here, Berkin! You are right. I believe we have several new members that require the ceremonial VC baptism. emoticon

Let's make sure this happens on Saturday for those that rise to the call to save Dearme.

Kazzy emoticon
