Djarum

Greetings, Djarum!

I have seen your posts around for a while, and I think you're an upstanding citizen on DH. I'll let your guildies decide if you are "the sweet, creamery butter on the flakey english muffin that is OotSK."

Anyway, my purposes in contacting you are three-fold:

1. As you're approaching your epic, I thought you might be willing to work on it with my wife, a 47 ERU CL. Delvinor intimated that you intend to work on it on March 5. We can try to get my wife, Cirel, dinged by then. We also know a 48 BRD and another 47 CL. The other CL knows a PAL. You guys could have a good time. Cirel is working toward Exorcist, so she has some mean undead nukes to put to use on the quest mobs.

2. Judging just off of the type of player you are in reputation--I've never grouped with you--and your posts on the EQOA forum, I think you're a pretty cool guy. It seems that your guild is a small, tightly-knit group that strives to maintain a family (as in, everyone is close, not as in rated G) atmosphere.

3. Taking into account number two, my guild of three whole people wants to help your small guild (pot calling kettle black). We want to help you guys kill Vox and other "uber" mobs. We recently left GoDM because the guild was too big for our tastes. We have experience on PoS, Vox, Kratas, Chardith, and Parathior. We are organized, competent players who respect others in the community. Let's talk about how our guilds can help each other.

Let me be the first to vouch for Flit, Torken and Cirel. I've exped with them as a group one more than one ocasion and have had the pleasure to exp wildlife with Torken many times. (First time I'd EVER seen a tank offer to share what was left after repairs) Flit has also been most helpfull in answering any questions my baby Rogue (Aghora) has had.

If/when the Epics happen, feel free to send a mail to Parr, I'll gladly help if I can.

First, Parr, you know it is a matter of when. There is no if. I feel like Yoda: "Do or do not; there is no try."

Second, I appreciate your offer of help. The problem for the epics that Djarum and Cirel must do is the one part of the "Group One Good" epic that puts a 650 DoT on anyone without the quest item who is in the graveyard. If you aren't a good aligned PAL, BRD, CL, WIZ, or ALC, you're going to die just by being there.

Third, sadly you missed our run on Chardith two nights ago. It was good practice for my epic. Sorry you missed it.

Fourth, as Torken has already told you, you have an open invitation to AoE. We don't want to try to take you away from VW if that is a good guild. Honestly, you're the only VW I know. I just wanted to remind you.

Vigilant Watch only has 5 real life members (4 rl friends and one dudes cool brother) but we love it. We know the one thing we may miss out on is the higher level part, as we are not in a large guild, but I know who to call on when I need some help.. :)

Sorry I missed the run, I was playing Champions. Damn.

Re: Djarum

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch, Flit. I obviously know you by reputation from the boards. And anyone Parr vouches for is instantly my buddy.

Dambro (aka Delvinor) just threw out the March 5 date as a suggestion. Mostly because I will be out of town until March 3 and because Friday is usually the one night most of us are consistently available for a long period of time. It's definitely not a solid plan yet, and won't be until I get back into town and see if my schedule will allow it. So as of now, let's say we're tentatively shooting for Friday, March 5.

As for Cirel, or anyone for that matter, I am all for helping and being helped on this big adventure. If Cirel is 49 by next Friday, then by all means she is welcome, as is all the other Clerics, Bards, Paladins and otherwise who might want to participate. All I know is that I definitely want as many of my guild brothers by my side as want to (or are able to) go along. There is at least one other higher-level player I also intend to invite, my former guild-mate and brother-by-another-mother Jareth (60 Bar Defender).

Also, I just want it understood, I don't know anything about this Epic quest (or any of the others). As sortof my last chance at capturing the wonder and wow-factor I used to experience every day in this game, I haven't done any research, read any walk-throughs, or even asked any questions. I just want to follow the story along and see where it takes me. I know this doesn't mesh well with some people's playing style, so I just wanted to let everyone know up front.

Another caveat: I don't speak for my guild. I'm not the Master. I just speak my mind... a lot... whether it be wrong or right. And, sometimes the other guys in OotSK agree with what comes out of my mouth. usually they just laugh.

I am anti-uber, for the most part. I don't like the idea of a few big groups who control most/all of the high-end content. But Sony is as much to blame for some of that as any guild (ie: making all dragons involved in an elite quest). But, as long as what someone else is doing doesn't interfere with the gaming experience of me and my friends, I am usually willing to live and let live.

So speaking for myself, I think only good things could come from OotSK working with your guild. And I think having Parr's guild on board would make it all the better. We're all three small guilds, but with experienced and (most importantly) mature players. I think we can all handle the high-end content, and coming together for mutual support is the best way to get us all there. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities.

While I am out of town, I definitely encourage Flit and Parr to talk either in-game or on the boards with Dambro and Guinness and Ryverwynd (feel free to ignore Finin, we all do). Toss around some ideas, work up some plans, see how it feels. Once I get back, you can bring me up to speed and we can hopefully set a firm date for doing these Epics.

I'm up for it.
It's definately good for us smaller "family" guilds to have good alliances.
I'd like to get you guys on my buddy list.
Also lately alot of us have been playing alts. Just an FYI.

Re: Djarum

Thanks for all of the replies, guys. Yes, I definitely think it's time we non-uber folks got to enjoy some of the end game.

To that end, the first thing I propose we do is plant ourselves a Vox spy. I have a 13 TRL SHA (Pavaka) who would love to live in Vox's lair. Torken can tank our way into the "safe" spot, and Cirel can heal. Since I will be on the Pavaka, we will need two for damage.

After we get Pavaka there, I will log onto him every time I play EQOA. Eventually, we will get lucky and Vox will be up. Then we'll just have to be quick with the communication and hope enough people are online.

The last time we took Vox, Torken was able to stand toe-to-toe with her the whole time with no problem, though he did not MT. That is to say that her AoE didn't slow him down a bit.

So, if any of you OotSK powers-who-be are online during our normal play times (7-10pm PST/10pm-1am EST), send me a tell and we'll get our spy planted.

Maybe this is just having big balls....but even though my Bard Dambro (my main) is lv 44...I think we should consider going to IoD.
Debt has again lost all meaning to me with my renewed love for the game....so besides the Vox spy...Iod anyone?

IoD does take testicular fortitude, from all that I know. None of us has the IoD key yet, so we would have to take some dreadnaughts down first. Torken has experience with that, but I don't think he is ready to MT one yet. We'd need a DRU or SHA to be the one to hold the kite string.

With a little organization and some resistance gear crafted by Torken and Cirel, we'd do well.
