Book Review: A Salty Piece of Land
A Salty Piece of Land
Author: Jimmy Buffett
I just finished this book last night.
I could have finished about 2 weeks ago, but I just didn't want it to end.
A brief review is this, I will attempt to keep the plot basic and not divulge details:
The book is about cowboy Tully Marrs, and his adventure that changes his life.
He is forced to leave Montana as a cowboy, do to, legal issues.
He encounters many different people on his adventure, and you are treated to a brief tale of these characters as they enter and exit our heroes life.
So, despite being about 1 character, it more closely resembles a collection of short stories.
If you have read any of Jimmy Buffetts other literature, you know what I mean when I say the characters are immediately relateable, despite most of them living lives I could only imagine in my dreams.
The good guys are good, and the bad guys, are bad.
Jimmy has a way of weaving colorful and amazing lives for his characters that, although it feels simplistic at times, I feel it is written that way to make it easier for everyone to relate, as opposed to trying to build an over complicated literary character that only a Harvard intellectual could understand.
If you are in the mood for a wonderful tale of adventure, mayhem, love, lust, and loss, pick it up.
