Why Everquest is a Hall of Fame Game

]Why Everquest is a Hall of Fame Game

I read this article, and a lot of what is discussed reminds me of EQOA and why this forum is still frequented after eight years. I think everyone would enjoy the read.

Congrats EQ!

That was a good read, thanks for sharing. It is amazing to think of the bonds of friendship forged in those early days of eqoa have survived so long. There aren't as many "families" like this out there.

I think it's all about patience like what was mentioned in that article. Today it's all ME ME ME Gerry and nobody stopping to take in the atmosphere or help another player Ed in need that's going down for the count by six mobs.

LOL

Funny, I was just reading about the Blizz founders and how they were hardcore gamers on EQ, truly a game that made a dif in many [sign in to see URL] alas, now it's about freakin Pandas and pokeman.

Yes, I missed the days when traveling to another zone could mean death and a 30m run back to your [sign in to see URL] was risk.

I loved the family it [sign in to see URL] disfunctional as it is [sign in to see URL] know, every family has an'Uncle Ken', doesnt always show up at the family functions, but when he does its a great time as long as you don't let him stay the night in the spare room.

Yes, three cheers EQ.

I remember when I first started WoW, there was a lot of that sense of risk. The elite areas were tough!!! That is one of the biggest challenges with MMOs today is that so much of what made MMOs enjoyable has been deemed a "Time Sink" and thus a waste of time. I remember Kaz being really excited when she got into crafting in LotRO, because it was so different - is crafting a time sink? I don't think so.

The biggest time sink ever was grinding in EQOA, but that is what made the game enjoyable. I would tank for hours, and to make up the time, we would cut up. Sometimes I would pull more than I should just to shake things up. If we died, we'd laugh it off and rez; if we lived, we'd all should exclamations of joy and surprise that we survived my big pull. emoticon

Kinda sad about the WoW pet battles. That seems really lame.
