a new game
I just felt like this feeling I've been having was worthy of a post...
I feel like I'm playing a whole new game, it's so exciting. Reaching the Walls of Moria was cool, but if I'm honest, it's really probably just because I've been a LoTR fan since the 70s. All of the quests there are part of the Epic quest chain, so when you reach the end, not only do you get to see the Balrog and fight The Watcher, you also get 2 Legendary Items and Durin's Door opens the entrance to Moria. That's when the game changed.
I really feel like I'm playing a whole new game. Turbine did such a great job with the legendary items. There are 6 legendary slots by default (of course Turbine will gladly let you purchase more with TPs ) and you start off with two: a weapon of your choice and a class slot item. It's actually quite involved, but Turbine does a great job explaining it all step by step. In brief, each item has to be "identified" by a forge master to uncover the specific bonuses of that unique item (which you can Name!) and each item gains xp and levels. Each item has 4 slots for different types of relics which one uses to add "stats" to it, i.e. main stats, offensive bonuses, defensive bonuses, resists, debuffs, etc. And as the item levels it also gains points to increase the bonuses specific to that item. The possibilities are seemingly endless (altho I'm sure its a finite number, it would have to be a very, very large number!) It's boils down to another way of customizing your character's build through the legendary items you slot.
My minstrel is so much "stronger" now. I'm able to do things that were previously beyond my ability to do. I really feel Legendary!
Moria is dangerous, and a mess, very difficult to navigate with any amount of certainty. I had to get a special goat mount just to travel here unless I wanted to try the 8 maps on foot! Moria is HUGE!! I'm sure eventually I'll figure out how to get around, but each time I feel like I'm completely lost just trying to get back to a "base". If you're not careful, a path suddenly turns to a cavernous drop-off with no warning.
What fun I am having.
I know when I hit 60 in EQOA and started to raid, I felt like it was sorta like a new game, the dynamics were different. And in WoW, it seemed the entire journey was about "end game" and you really weren't "playing" WoW until you were max level and raiding. But here I am in LoTRO and I'm 15 or so levels from "end game" and I truly feel like I'm playing a new game already.
I just wanted to share... what fun I am having! I really love this game.

Re: a new game
Awesome info! Thank you for sharing what you have gone through recently. It really helps give the rest of us an idea of what is coming. Sometimes, it is great to have an idea of what to look forward to.
I am very much looking forward to Moria, but I'm in no rush yet There is just *so* much to do in this game!

Awesome, Kaz!!! I'm so looking forward to getting to this content. Now that most of my busy part of summer is done, I'll get to working on leveling some more.

Re: a new game
cool, Berk, but there's no hurry to level(as you know!). I have 2 level 35 toons, so I'm thinking of leveling one of them to 45ish (slowly ) so I can feel free to move forward with Tess and still have a toon in instance range with others that can't play as much as I can

Re: a new game
I completed the Entrance to Moria book this weekend and have my two Legendary Items. Thanks to Beldaraan and Lunaella for pointing out that I can do these quests before level 50. They actually open up at 45, and there is so much xp, that I leveled into 46, and then moved on to 47!!!
After I completed Volume II, Book 1, I returned to Eriador to finish some quests that I want to complete, Volume I before taking up long term residence in Moria. I also need to finish leveling crafting before I enter Moria as well.
