Druid heals in Cata and beyond

Penny, Crits and I seem to be the lone wow players now, but just in case any of you are still curious about whats going on in game, there are some cool changes to Druid healing in the 4.2 patch

There have been many changes for us in this expansion so far. We have changed from being the go to raid healer, to being better suited for single target healing. In ICC we could afford to blanket rejuvenation on the raid while casting wild growth on cool down while still keeping HOTS on the tank and swiftmending with efflorescence constantly.

To follow that style of healing now would certainly see you OOM within the first few minutes of the encounter. Now we follow a style of keeping Hots on the tank, following with Nourish for mastery bonus. Symbiosis healing is our new game and we have become used to chasing HOTS with nourish to remain effective healers.

But wait! Bliz is about to mix it up again. Out with Symbiosis, and in with Harmony! I do like this new direction. Our direct healing spells will now be buffed by 10% base, plus whatever mastery is on our gear. Each point of mastery will add [sign in to see URL]% bonus. This will apply to Nourish, Regrowth, Healing touch, and Swiftmend. Now we will open up on the tank with Regrowth to prime the mastery and then apply the hots. We will still want to stack lifebloom and refresh it with our direct heals. The best part of this change is the mastery bonus will continue for 10 seconds after the initial cast. I think overall we will see a significant increase to overall HPS and a large decrease to over healing as the need to keep HOTS up will not be as crucial.

This is a good direction, and for me personally I’m looking forward to the next tier in raiding.

Great to hear that you guys are still enjoying WoW.

The change to druid healing sounds interesting. Hopefully they settle it down. Too many changes to that class recently emoticon

I think it came down to time invested in game for Lisa and me. As much as wow did take on some pretty drastic changes in terms of quest mechanics, and phasing end game pretty much stayed the same. In fact for this expansion end game became even more a part of immersing yourself in the lore of the story. We have always enjoyed raiding since vanilla wow, and struggled to rediscover raiding after we left Uther. On Velen we came close and had a great group but were just short of the last 3-4 people needed to keep a raid team active and interesting. AIE was the answer and is the essence of everything we knew and loved about the Villains except on a massive scale. Not a guild but more of a gaming community that span Wow, Rift, Eve, Lotro, steam and many more game environments. Having got to know many of you in the time that we gamed together I still urge you to have a look at the AIE gaming community. I’m sure that you would find that our game philosophy is their game philosophy.
