Seven Years

An article was posted to Wow Insider about the guild The Syndicate ]existing for 15 years.

While the knights have not been around that long, we have been a group for more than seven years. I am glad to have been a part of this community and thank you all for your friendship.

I searched the forums and found the oldest post which is dated 12/31/03. It has been a quite while since we were all running round Norrath on our PS2s. emoticon

Re: Seven Years

The guild is a bit older than that post. Way back in 2003, Runboard reset the time when boards were created due to a new versino of their platform. At that time, they marked our board as 'Before Sept 2003'. You can see that notice on the bottom of the front page, right side.

EQOA was released in Feb 2003 (or so saw wikipedia). The OotSK were formed probably around May of 2003. There were only 4 or 5 of us at the time; Dambro, Guiness, myself and a Rogue friend of theirs. Shortly after, Garciarocks joined while the Rogue left the game. Within the next month or so, we picked up Finin and Djarum.

I believe we are pushing 8 years now. Neither Dambro nor I really remember when the guild was founded, other than shortly after the release of EQOA emoticon

Hehe doesn't always seem like so long ago - exploring Tomb of Kings with Fullpint and [sign in to see URL] night VC incursions into the Great Unknown (with the occasional appearance from the Pieman), lurking around the FP docks in gator form on Windwoven just hoping for a duel [sign in to see URL] out a level or two with Dambro at the Glinaldal ranger fort.

After reading a post on RIFT forums about an impromptu raid to take on some giant [sign in to see URL] reminded me of the day, prolly back in March 2003 on my first toon - venturing south of Qeynos and seeing a bunch of people standing on the shore looking out at the little island where the portal was to darkwood. Joined up with them and about 12 of us swam out and attacked the goblins there. I remember dying horribly, after finally figuring out how to get *out* of the water and join the battle... couldnt have told you WHY we were attacking the goblins there - it didnt matter, they were goblins emoticon miss that sort of experience...

Those were the days emoticon

I think I remember...

I first met Dambro the day he formed Vertically Challenged... sheer genius. The guild itself was so fun and the concept of the RP and casual gaming it made several of us want to stick together, some even left their mains on other servers and found a home in OotSK.

I found Flit in FP and recognized him from some forum posts he had made about his guild - Alliance of Elders. Long story short, I joined that guild, and I think you were already in it, PB. Shortly after joining, we merged with 2 other guilds and eventually became The Kindred. After several shake ups and people coming and going, we all settled with our mains in The Order of the Sleepless Knights and shorties in VC.

/bows to Dambro

Re: Seven Years

Through all the various versions, themes, what-have-you's, that the Knights went through, the basic tenent of the guild was always there: have fun.
As Ryver stated, we went from 4 of us, one of whom no one recalls (kinda nice to have a small air of mystery to our founding), to being one of the top guilds, both through deed and more importantly, through reputation.
The [sign in to see URL] dunno where I was going with it, it all seems to have been [sign in to see URL] I could go back, and do it again, I would in a [sign in to see URL] out the best gaming experience I've ever had, and it was nothing to do with Norrath, it was all about the people.

Heck, my "clan tag" in Black Ops is OOSK - didn't make sense to run with anything else.

The VC, may be the greatest thing I have seen in an online game (forgive me I haven't stepped beyond EQOA so my view is skewed) but all the greatness is again attributed to all the guild mates.
I remember long stretches where people wanted in, and we didn't have the room, and that was after dropping out alt's.
The VC, where a Lv20 Pieman could dismantle players many levels higher in PvP.

This community we built, is the best, my hat is off to you all.
