Answers about account types

post on the official LotRO forums

What happens if...

...I buy Turbine Points with real money

- Your account becomes a Premium account
- You gain 1 additional character slot (this is on top of any purchased)
- Your characters' gold cap is increased to 5 Gold
- Your characters are able to trade and mail gold
- Your characters can list 5 items each in the auction house
- You receive a high priority in the login queue if servers are full
- You receive full access to the forums and other community features
- You receive full access to customer service for 30 days

...I become a subscriber

While subscribed, you gain:

- All 5 bag slots unlocked
- All trait slots unlocked
- No gold limit
- Access to Swift Travel
- 3 character slots (from F2P, 2 character slots if you were Premium)
- Access to all quests, deeds, instances and skirmishes in Eriador (North Downs, Evendim, Trollshaws, Misty Mountains, Angmar, Forochel, Eregion, Enedwaith)
- 500TP per month
- Highest priority in the login queue if servers are full
- Full access to the forums and other community features
- Full access to crafting guild advancement
- Access to the slow Bree-Land starter pony at level 5 (200 in-game silver)
- Access to the Riding Skill quest at level 20
- 20 Wardrobe slots
- Ability to spend destiny points
- Access to Monster Play and the Ettenmoors (PvMP)
- Full access to customer service
- Rest XP for all characters
- Your characters can list 30 items each in the auction house

...my subscription ends

- Your account becomes a Premium account
- All characters logged in while VIP keep the unlocks for bags, traits, gold cap and swift travel. New characters will have the Premium restrictions
- You lose access to all quests, deeds, instances and skirmishes in Eriador (North Downs, Evendim, Trollshaws, Misty Mountains, Angmar, Forochel, Eregion, Enedwaith). Quests and deeds already in your log can be completed (just that quest/deed, not the chain)
- You lose 2 character slots. If you do not have 2 empty character slots, you will have to select characters to temporarily lock until your account has enough slots to support them
- You no longer receive 500TP each month
- You fall back to a high priority in the login queue if servers are full
- You lose access to crafting guild advancement. Any advancement already achieved is maintained
- You lose access to the riding skill quest. Characters who have already completed it do not lose the skill
- You lose 20 wardrobe slots. Existing items in the wardrobe are not deleted, but no new items can be added until your total wardrobe items are less than your current wardrobe size
- You lose the ability to spend destiny points
- You lose access to Monster Play and the Ettenmoors (PvMP)
- You lose access to customer service
- Your characters no longer gain Rest XP (any amassed Rest XP is maintained)
- Your characters can only list 5 items each in the auction house

...I resubscribe

- Everything which was lost when your subscription ended (above) is reinstated

...I purchase a Shadows of Angmar retail box/code and apply the code. This ONLY works if you have NOT applied a Shadows of Angmar or Mines of Moria code yet.

- You gain a month of VIP access (or extend your existing subscription by a month) and all of the benefits that entails (including the 500TP stipend)

Subscribed last night. Why didn't anyone *TELL* me how much better it really was?

Yes, you can totally play for free, and you get a lot of fun. You can totally be a spendthrift with TPs and unlock content. Or, if you've reached the mid-20's and have decided you actually like the game, it's worth the money. The 30 extra slots for carryable inventory are more than worth it (2 bags, BAM) ... the swift travel is worth it. The gold cap gone is worth it (nearly 2G was in my overflow) ... the additional quests will probably be worth it... The auction house, needed the gold cap removed to make the 30 auction item slots worth it... The unlocked trait slots totally worth it. New toon slots will be worth it when I get over my current high. emoticon

It was so nice not to destroy stuff on a wildlife grind. I think I spent half the day just picking stuff up to see if I could fill up. I couldn't. emoticon

So, when do I get my first installment of the included 500 tps? emoticon

You should get those first 500 TPs within just a few days of subscripting. I think it took 2-3 days for mine.

And yes, subscribing, even for a single month is *well* worth the $15. The bag and trait unlocks along with the mounts are my favorites out of it as those stay with you.

Once you unsubscribe, you will have a gold cap (5G I think) and the AH slots go back down. Of course, you'll have 500 extra TP to use emoticon

It's so worth it, imo, I'll stay VIP. I've been paying for at least one game account (sometimes up to 6) for 8 years, this is the cheapest one so far! Just stay away from the temptation to purchase more TPS! emoticon

This is the only change I have noticed on my existing characters since my trial VIP month lapsed. I am about the finish quests in the Lone Lands, so I'll have to buy a quest pack soon.
