AIE 25 man - Planning Thread

Got my mage to ER

I want to run 25 mans and none of the existing ones meet my needs. emoticon I propose starting our own team, suggested name: Relentless. (Perhaps Lisa can come up with something more clever?)

Who else is up for this? Would like to get a list and plan a guild recruitment thread with needed classes once I know who among us is interested. Colin, you said you have 4 from your 10 man group that might want to participate? Lets get a list of 1)toon 2)class 3)main spec 4)offspec - if they can and will use it in our raid (in other words are geared for these zones and comfy with offspec)

Planned go live date: 8/10/10

Planned raid zones: ICC, VoA, RS, ToGC (as time allows or boredom requires emoticon )

Suggested Schedule: Days? I'm available Tues - Thurs 10 pm - 12:30 am server (invites 30 mins prior) and Sunday 7pm - 10pm server. Do we pick 2 or 3 days? What works best for our core group?

Recruitment/ organization period (trial runs?) 7/13 - 7/26 this is when I will be available, I'll be on personal leave for move/wedding/honeymoon from 7/27 - 8/9/10. Maybe Colin can cover for that period?

Loot distribution: Master Loot for now? Just Main spec rolls, then offspec rolls? Everyone get something before one person gets two? Greed rolls for orbs, undisputed BoE's, shards, etc. Tier tokens are considered MS loot. If we think we should use a dkp system, I would want to use EPGP and we can start a separate thread on how we will manage that. Once EPGP is instituted and set up, its a TON easier for everyone and no chance for unfairness at all.

Proposed roster:

Tanks: 2 core MTs (ideally War & Pally), 1-2 OTs with usable offspecs would be ideal

Heals: 6 core healers - ideally at least one per heal class and no more than 2 per class (Priest, Pally, Shammy, Druid), 1-2 offspec heals

Melee: 6-7 core melee ideally with at least one per class and no more than 2 (Rogue, DK, Druid, Shammy, Pally, War)

Ranged: 8-9 core ranged with at least one per class (SP, Mage, Lock, Hunter, Shammy, Druid).

Since the guild is so huge and we have our own LFG channel, I suggest we recruit 25 people. If anyone is absent for invites, we will pug from guild for empty slots 15 mins after invites so we can pull on time.

Comments? What am I missing?

If any knights are interested in joining our team I would suggest to get you application to AIE submitted before the 7th, as that is the close date until next month. Please check wow heroes to see if you are geared enough for the 25 man. Experience is not required but obviously decent gear is.

Times: To be determined

**Tuesday and Thursday are the night that Crucial Taunt runs, so Lisa and I wont be available**

Loot Rules:
I would suggest suicide kings as with 25 people there is a high possibility that as raid leaders we may find ourselves having to explain why we decided to give loot to one member over another. Not to mention is there are alts that join us, that may be there just for the phat loots.
Here is a link to what suicide kings is all about:

I'd like to tweak the roster a little to be a bit more flexible.

Not sure Dawn is bringing her hunter over, she might.. but she's really more interested in getting her prot warrior to 80.

How does this work?

Tanks - open for Paladin, Warrior, Druid, DK
*OPEN* - 1st Main Tank (War/Pal/Drd)
*OPEN* - 2nd Main Tank (War/Pal/Drd)
*OPEN* - OT with DPS/Heal OS
*OPEN* - OT with DPS/Heal OS

Heals - Open for Shaman, Priest, Druid, Paladin
*OPEN* - Resto Shaman
*OPEN* - Holy Priest
*OPEN* - Resto Druid OS DPS/OT
*OPEN* - Holy Paladin
*OPEN* - Disc Priest
Kethrall - Resto Druid

MPDS - Open for Warrior, Rogue, Paladin, Shaman, Druid, DK
*OPEN* - Rogue
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -

RDPS - Open for Hunter, Priest, Shaman, Druid, possibly 3rd mage
*OPEN* - Hunter
*OPEN* - Priest
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -
*OPEN* -
Kazmagic- Arcane Mage (Raid Leader)
Critstina - Arcane Mage
Voidress – Dest Warlock
Doomstorm – Dest Warlock

Read up on the SK link, thanks. From what I read, my understanding is that there is an ordered list of raid team members and when loot drops the person highest on the list that wants it gets the loot at drops to the bottom of the list. This would definitely mean then that we would find ourselves explaining to someone pugged in or an alt, why we gave loot to one member over another. Why not just roll for MS, then offspec? With a roll, all people present for the kill have equal chance, pugged in or not. Only one MS loot per raid would prevent greed. What am I missing?

Re: AIE 25 man - Planning Thread

I know SK goes a little against the grain as to what we are use to, but imo a member that has put in the time for the raid group should have more of a chance to obtain loot that would allow the "team" to progress further. I try to think of say the shammy that has been us time and time again waiting for that crucial item he/she needs to complete a set they have been working on just to have a one time pug in come in a win that said item on a random roll. It could cause some issues for us.

The other nice thing about SK is it automates the entire loot system. The bids just get wispered to the raid leader and whomever is postitioned on the right tear the system auto distrubutes the loot. Makes things move very quickly.

I have been to a few raids now that use the system and have not felt spited about any loot, in fact I still ended up with a few items as the other druids had already obtained the items, or the individual didnt want to loose thier spot on the ladder as they were holding out for a certain items to drop.

AIE for the most part are farmilliar with SK and have accepted it, so its not like we will be introducing anything that is new.

In the end, it is your call as you are the RL and of course Ill respect what system you wanted to use. I just wanted to offer it as a suggestion that might help us move a little quicker, and help the core team to get to the final goal.

The structure of the roster looks much more polished. I like it!

I really hope to see a few of our Knights make thier way over and give this a try. I very much enjoyed gaming with many of you would love a chance to see end game in 25 man with you.

So shall we get this discussion going again? With the changes to raiding is there any interest in 25man now? Or shall we work towards a 10 man group.

Personally I would still like the challenge of a 25 man.

I also like 25man. It has obvious up and down-sides though. Upsides - somewhat more challenging, likely to have all classes and all raid buffs to help with success. Downsides - harder to succeed, harder to find 25 dependable, casual, mature, committed ppl.

Is it true what I hear, that 10 man loot is the same as 25 man?

With the new patch changes the fight lockouts are by boss, not by raid ID so from what I understand we could start with a 25 man, down a few bosses, then a couple days later finish with one or two 10's if we can't get 25 together.

Re: AIE 25 man - Planning Thread

My previous post was prior to some reading about 10-25 man raids, and yes the loot is the same the only difference it seems is that there is more loot that drops. That and the added challenge of 25 man runs.
Unless I can find some significant differenced between 10 and 25 man. My preference would to just pursue ten man content, as it’s much more personal and the team is able to build a better bond between members.
25 man teams seem to always have issues with attendance, and seem to struggle to fill spots every raid. I constantly see the requests in /gu when ever a run is scheduled.
If our 10 man does run out of content down the line, then perhaps we can pursue a co-op with another 10 man team and back fill the last 5 spots with alts that each team will no doubt have in their roster.
I’m going to continue to delve into the Cata information that’s currently on the net, perhaps I’m missing something, as I am also of the opinion that if blizz intended to have such subtle differences between 10 and 25 man why did they not just do away with 25 man raids as they did with 40 man.
