Camped the spawn location, now I'm in trouble
Well, I camped a spawn location back in the summer. The end result is soon to be lack of sleep, time and money.
For those that have gone through this recently, Berk?, any helpful hints/suggestions for managing play time with family time?

Congratualtions on the great spawn!
The drops for this "mob" are frequent, smelly, and mutli colored!
You gain abilities just for "spawning" this "mob", some of which are:
Gross out tolerance +50
Functionabilty on minimal sleep +100
Dexterity +100
Charisma -200(lack of sleep causes this)
Acting like a kid without strange looks from others!
Also your joy level will skyrocket with no end in sight.....
We'll leave the negative affects for another thread lol
In regards to managing play time....what I did is simply play when they sleep.
Congrats again man!

Re: Camped the spawn location, now I'm in trouble
Congrats Ryverwynd on getting that RARE spawn to pop!
For us the primary answer to your question was/is TEAMWORK TEAMWORK TEAMWORK.
You have to find creative ways to help each other balance your lives. This was very important, and challenging, for us as we were both very independent people and suddenly we were very dependent on each other for getting 'us' and 'me' time.
One thing you can do is what Hubby did... he had the 8:00pm to 2:00 am shift and would play between feedings, rockings, diapers, etc. It was not much, and was often interrupted but he made it work by doing a lot of soloing and not being afraid of 'diaper debt'
I would workout, craft and otherwise do my thing likewise on my shift from 2:00am until 8:00am (that was before I got into EQOA).
That shift system in the early days worked wonders for us as we both could count on getting 6 hours of sleep.
Good luck and please keep us informed on how the spawn goes
Dearme, your Friendly (we need to get back to that camp ourselves) Druid.

Thanks guys.
The shift system might be the best, even if I do end up with the 2-8 shift
It's a good thing WoW is out now. Soloing and debt are now non-issues!
I will keep you informed. Expected date is April.

Congrats Ryver!
Just don't let the kid get a PL, so you can savor the early years

Re: Camped the spawn location, now I'm in trouble
Hehehe... Congrats, Ryver.
The biggest quest guide I can give you is Family time first. You will find that your game time decreases, but it is worth it. Coming home to a little boy or girl who smiles at the first sight of you is worth a thousand dings or a billion tunar.
I had to learn to cut back. I started playing EQOA, my first MMORPG shortly before my wife and I learned she was pregnant. She had a very difficult pregnancy and was sick the entire time. (be prepared for this) Since my wife wanted to spend a lot of time resting, I had a lot of time to play (well, relatively... )
The most important thing is to schedule game time around sleep. This will be difficult in the first few months, which is why I almost stopped playing all together. I had a difficult time adjusting, but once I faced the fact that I just had to cut back on game time, things worked out. You'll find that is how most parents work it out. Your biggest obstacle after that will be when you have to start sharing the PS2.

Re: Camped the spawn location, now I'm in trouble
Thanks Berk.
I have been expecting my play time to go down. It sounds like it is possible to continue playing at least!
The wife is already into the third trimester and the sickness has been over for a few months. It was pretty bad for about a month though.
Scheduling around sleep will be interesting. I still say sleep is overrated...Too bad I need a bit of it Maybe if I took more naps....Damn, kids have it made.
Yeah, I have been expecting the family time to take precedence. I'm already planning on stopping soccer for at least 6 months. Luckily, I only play computer games about 3-4 nights a week right now, and weekend mornings before the wife wakes up.

Dambro, isn't there a -50 DR penalty associated with this also?

Re: Camped the spawn location, now I'm in trouble
Gratz, Ryver, that totally rocks! My baby is 21.5 seasons atm, so can't share info on dealing with juggling an infant and a controller, but I did have a full time job, played in a rock band and taught Sunday school when I had my infant. The hardest part is realizing that you just can't do everything you want, some things just have to take a backseat. But there is nothing better.... except maybe the grandkids!!!!!!! Indeed, if one could obtain an account off parentauctions.com and you could skip the children and move right to the grandkids, I might recommend that approach. Just kidding. Serious gratz, man, that is awesome news. Your life will never be the same.
