There are no restrictions on either leveling or areas in game in the F2P mode.
The Store has Diamonds to buy for cash, and that's where you get the uber stuff like mounts etc which you can view whenever you get into the game. Plenty to do for free, best F2P game I've played.

Until end game, the shop is really optional. You can buy a permanent mount instead of renting one, for instance.
The big raid guilds in the game will tell you that the best way to enchant gear involves spending a lot of cash on Diamonds. Since I have never known the Knights to be big time raiders, this should not matter.

It is a game you can quickly pick up and play. I have an old character somewhere on the Artemis server as well. Heck, probably named Ryverwynd
I may have to load this back up at some point to play around.

I decided to pick the newest server, Reni, hoping a lower population would mean less chance of dum-dums.

Re: A Free2Play WoW Clone and it's pretty darn fun - Runes of Magic
So do we have a consensus on where most people are going to try it out on, or is everyone in the sampling it phase?
A Scout/Cleric dual class seems to be very enticing...as does a Warrior/Mage....

Re: A Free2Play WoW Clone and it's pretty darn fun - Runes of Magic
Im sampling but,am sticking with Mage/Priest,im only Mage 10 /Priest 6 atm but like where its heading.
Im allways knee deep in Majic and used to bieng a high destruction sguishy,,so this combo fits me...
Cant tell ya how many times ive been one spell from killing something big,and just needed 3 more secs on life ! lol...
Has been working well for me have a quick heal, smal hot spell and a armor buff so far on Priest side.
Having a lot of fun figuring out the Rune system too....

Re: A Free2Play WoW Clone and it's pretty darn fun - Runes of Magic
My goal is try to set foot in this strange land at some point this evening, if all goes as planned. I do have a dinner date with the missus, so gaming could be put aside after dinner...
Anyone have an estimate on how long the DL and install is?
Remember I'm a full on noob for PC games, my only exposure isTales of Pirates .

Re: A Free2Play WoW Clone and it's pretty darn fun - Runes of Magic
Dambro, I think the full download is 3.4GB, the official site has it broken down into 1GB chunks and u download all 4. I just let mine download overnight.
I read that a lot of people downloaded from Gamershell.com also.
It's funny that you mention a Scout/Priest, that's what I rolled up! He's only 10/6 but we're having fun. I wanted something like my EQPC Ranger since I hated the Rangers in EQOA. So far so good, hell, its free!
