Re: Joint Raids Anyone?

After I died a few times I found that I just stand in the middle of the boss right in front of the tank, and I seem to come out with min health loss. Not exactly an exepted strat, and Im sure I got a few sideways glances from the pugs I ran with but it seemed to work.

This is a great fight! Lots of fun.

Kaz how may drakes have you guys kept up?

Yeah, there are 2 different flame wall spawns and which one spawns is completely random, you just have to look at it spawning and know which it is. There are at least 2 (sometimes 3) consistent safe zones for each spawn, and yeah, one of them is right on the boss. I think of them as "forward" and "back" and I've gotten so familiar with the fight that I know exactly where to stand depending on which spawn and where I happen to be standing when it spawns. The fight requires a LOT of movement when you leave drakes up so you don't have luxury of standing in one spot. I am fortunate as a mage that if I screw up and see that i'm not going to make it to safety in time, I can iceblock and be invulnerable to a wall. But my CD prevents me from doing that more than once in a fight. emoticon

Oh.. and btw, the wall is a little bigger than it looks, so if u think ur right on the edge of it, but out of it... watch out, u'll probably take the hit. It's bigger than it looks. Same with the void zones from the drakes, they are bigger than they look and u have 3 secs to move or ur dead, you can not survive a void zone. emoticon

I've done it with all 3 drakes up on both 10 and 25 man. Most ppl call it Sarth 3D or 2D depending on how many drakes up. For 2D and 3D the loot drops are superb, so worth the challenge... Blizz is brilliant. 10man Sarth 3D is tons harder than 25man 3D cuz you can not make a single mistake and since you only can bring 10 ppl, you are limited to the abilities of the classes you bring. Hardest and most fun fight in the game before Ulduar release for sure.

For 25 man Sarth 3D you get "Twilight Vanquisher" title, for 10 man you get "of the Nightfall" title. emoticon

Not to add any pressure, right? emoticon

Well, Happymoonkin seemed to feel they have this raid down, and since he's the one running it, I'm trusting his judgment emoticon

OS is Obsidian Sanctum isn't it? As far as I know, this is the only OS in Northrend. Otherwise, I'll have to get clarification from him, as from what everyone is telling me, this is a tremendous challenge.

Win or lose, it should still be a great opportunity for two like-minded guilds to get to know one another and have some fun.

Thanks for the advice on the fire walls Nancy emoticon

lol Diana. Yes OS = Obsidian Sanctum = Sartharion all the same. The regular OS run is a lot of fun and while challenging at first, I'm sure you will have a success! What you quoted me on was in response to Colin's question:

Here's the setup... Once you go inside, its like a big cave/cavern. There are 6 or so packs of trash mobs, and 3 mini boss drakes: Tenebron, Vesperon and Shadron. Sartharion stands in the center of the cavern and you will see him when you walk in the door. The trash and drakes encircle him along the perimeter.

For the fight you are planning, you will just take the trash and the drakes down before you engage Sartharion. Its a really fun raid and you'll love it. Each drake has its own abilities and challenges but none of them too hard once you know what to do. Sarth is the same, the tank and healers have to deal with his breath and everyone has to deal with flame walls and the adds he spawns. But all in all, nothing too hard once you get used to the flame walls.

The "hard" part (3D) is when you engage Sarth without killing his drakes first because he calls them in to help him during the fight. Any drakes you leave up, he calls in to the fight when you engage him. They buff him, debuff the raid and you have to deal with all four of them doing their things at the same time (flame walls, void zones, whelps, portals, etc). THAT is the hard fight I was referring to, not the regular OS. Hope that clarifies, sorry if I was confusing. emoticon

Heh, thanks, just me being a raid noob emoticon

Not sure if they intend to leave the drakes up or not during the fight, hopefully whomever attends will let us know along with how it went emoticon

Your insight is always welcome Nancy. You have already been through the raids multiple times that most of us are just now getting to, so the info is always appreciated.

I understand a good time was had by all emoticon

From what I hear, the fight was a tough one and the Big Boss escaped the joint forces, but there's always next time emoticon

The MT for Divinity had to bow out as his wife went into labor and delivered their baby, so congratz out to both of them! emoticon

Nice job Knights, thank you to those who were able to attend.

Hoping to make the fun next time, as Willow steadily approaches the big 80 emoticon emoticon

Great to hear you all got into OS last night, as with our fight, a valiant effort but both our foes got the best of our groups. The awesome thing is how both these teams can look beyond the immediate, and hunger to get back in the ring to try again!

Here is to both our guilds success the next time! emoticon emoticon

Gratz on the fun raid! You'll get him next time, I'll wager! But, as always, if you had fun... it was a success! emoticon
