Remember the wish list...

Probably not hard to cuz its still stickied emoticon but along those lines...

Probably the one thing about EQOA that I found most enticing, that kept me playing etc was the aura and mystique around some of the items in game.

So lets hear from everyone, whats that one item that throughout your EQOA career, you sought most, and why. Also whats the one item you always craved but could never get.

I think the most sought after item for me was the heatstride tunic. This was pre-fronts. I first heard about it during the orc invasion of FP, cuz I heard it dropped during the raid. Stats were really nice for LV48--I think 10STR, 10STA, 15DEX, 75HP, 10FR, 270AC. It was also dark grey scale (same color as shammy IOD gear) and pre-fronts I don't think there was much other gear that had this color (only others come to mind was the mid 30's terrorfell stuff). Well I heard heatstride dropped at chiktar and I farmed there sooo much from like August 03 til fronts came out. Never got it to drop emoticon when I finally did get it, it was from the auction, and by then was well on the way to 60 and better gear was around emoticon

The one item I always wanted but never could get my hands on is the songsword tunic. It's LV28, I think 10STA 10AGI and normal AC for that level. Reason I always wanted it cuz it was rumored to be plate and still bard usable. I remember checking back on the patch notes for when they nerfed bard plate and it wasn't listed as one of the items changed so I thought maybe it had been overlooked. Always craved this one, farmed months for it, and never got...but if I ever return, this one will be on the top of the farmin list emoticon

Re: Remember the wish list...

For Kaz, she coveted the PoS BP for quite a while. RDD had such a hard time defeating QoV that obtaining his ring for the piece seemed like the impossible dream. Eventually, after I left RDD and found a permanent home in the Knights, I saw the ring on auction and bought it because I wasn't sure the Knights would ever have the desire or strength to get to Deso. I loved the BP and wore it for quite a while, until at last the 60 epics provided the option of a BP that far exceeded the stats of the PoS BP.

Another item that I coveted for the longest time was the Sea Foam Bracelet. No one seemed to know where it dropped. From the description of the item and some false information, I was led to believe it dropped off the priestesses in Kerra. After close to a year of searching, I never found it on auction, never got one to drop. Then one night when the Knights were raiding CtT, one dropped and I can't remember if I won the roll, or everyone just knew I wanted it so bad that they let me have it... emoticon Knights rule, and I was a happy gamer. emoticon

I have never been a gear-head. I still, to this day, haven't a clue what some of the "best-in-game" gear is.

So, I can only talk about the mystique of gear I've been given as gifts, both on my FH monk. One was the Ankexfen Death Shroud, LOVE that black robe, purdy! (stats bite for a monk, but it's purdy) and the other was a PoS monk drop, where Danladi had never been, Robe of the Master. (I found out much later that the guildie that gave it to me was not supposed to have been farming up there, something that eventually led to his ejection from guild).

Someday, if I ever save up a crapload of tunar that I want to throw away, I'll buy a CV and give it to Nebby, he's wanted one since they became no-drop.

Re: Remember the wish list...

I am very similar to Bri, in that I have no clue what half the good stuff is, and have been laughed at for using what I felt was good over the Uber crowds views...but my RPG history carried through to this game.
Every RPG I have ever played, it is always about finding the next best item, or saving up just enough Gold to buy the next best thing. And when given a choice, I always go for weapons before armor.
So Dambro is a weapons collector.
The Rhino Axe seemed just too sweet, and Chris and Kristen were kind enough to lend me one. So while I was slaying Ratmen for their whiskers, lo and behold, the drop of a lifetime, a Rhino Axe.
With the drop I was able to wield a pair of them.

Other than that, I got a Antique BP to drop one day down in Blackburrow with Djarum. At the time it was Bard useable and he already had one, so lucky me. That BP was the best gear I could have for many a level.

When the patch came through that it would become NTL, yet still wearable, and a new one would drop Bards couldn't wear, I traded it away to a Paladin that I later deleted.

I would have to say Shinning steel helm, I've found 2 in auctions and bought both of them but I'm not sure were they drop.

Another is obviously CV, I've wanted one ever since I've started playing EQOA 2 months after the first game came out.
